This is a newspaper, that is about the goings on of a six-membered family, who are home-schooling in middle America. WE ARE NOT GRASSROOTS! Just forget about that.

The Springfield Astonisher started about four (4) years ago, It was originally called the Daily Gazette. Well, that name didn't last long, and neither did the daily aspect.

It was to hard to do every day, and our relatives had already sampled the wonderfulness of it, they wanted more. So we decided to change the name to the "Clarinda Astonisher," after the town in which we lived at the time. It stayed that way for about 2 years.

Since that time, it has had many name changes, because we moved from that small town in Iowa where the paper got it's name.

After we moved, we had trouble thinking of a name, we actually polled our readers who agreed that we should call the paper, "The Springfield News Distillery," That later morphed into "The Springfield News Distillery and Windbag," But neither of those names lasted very long. They were hard to remember, and didn't roll off the tongue, like our old name did. So by a recount of the votes (we counted hanging and pregnant chads) that were placed in the naming process, it ended up that a whopping 74% actually voted for "The Springfield Astonisher," even though it really wasn't on the ballot. Oh, and they didn't actually have ballots.
